Camping is allowed in the indicated areas (see image from nps website below) except within 300 ft of roadways. There are no facilities, that means no restroom, water or trash collection, and campfires require a permit This campground is at 6,800ft in elevation and is open year round. It's easy to find and is located two miles west of Mayhill right along US-82 and is about twenty minutes east of Cloudcroft, making it a nice stopping point between Carlsbad Caverns National Park and White Sands National Monument

Camping. Franconia Notch State Park is located in the heart of the White Mountain National Forest. Franconia Notch is a spectacular mountain pass traversed by a unique parkway which extends from the Flume Gorge at the south to Echo Lake at the north. For eight miles, I-93 winds between the high peaks of the Kinsman and Franconia mountain ranges Some of the most popular recreation activities are hiking, camping, backpacking, hunting and fishing. The wild segment is entirely in the Pecos Wilderness and provides opportunities for remote, primitive activities. The recreational segment is located along State Highway 63 and offers a range of day and overnight activities from Terrero to Cowles Lincoln National Forest- Dispersed Camping near Jicarilla. After Santa Rosa Lake we headed southward to camp in the Lincoln National Forest (Smokey Bear District) at a dispersed camping spot. We have camped at this spot numerous times and this time we felt is was time to give something back to the National Forest Service Camping Opportunities.
